About me

It was Hans Christian Andersen who said ‘to travel is to live’. I certainly agree.

My first taste of travel came as a toddler, when my globe-trotting parents took me interrailing across Europe and then embarked on a round-the-world tour with three kids in tow (a brave decision!). Exploring the world has remained a firm passion ever since and, as I also have a love of writing and photography, I’ve decided to combine the three and see where it gets me. I now have a fantastic day job with the wonderful i-escape.com and, if I’m not on a plane or booking my next trip, I spend most of my free time either tapping away on the laptop or roaming the streets with my camera.

My travels vary widely, from monkey-watching in the Japanese Alps and safaris in South Africa’s Karoo to window-shopping city breaks in Europe and beyond. I’ve also spent time living in both Paris and Barcelona and I return to both whenever possible. Wherever I go, though, I aim to get to know the people and the places and experience the sights, the scents and the sounds.

I hope this blog provides some interesting insights, together with a few useful tips here and there. I’m always open to feedback and ideas, so please leave your comments or email me at abi2000_1@hotmail.com. If you like my photography then pay a visit to www.abidare.etsy.com, where many of my images are for sale.

Happy travelling!
